Ferrybridge Infant School Aims

 

What are the aims of the school?                                

·        We believe in educating the “whole child” by developing them, intellectually, emotionally, socially, spiritually and physically.

 

·        We believe that all children have a right to expect a quality education regardless of gender, race, culture or disability and be given the best possible chances to achieve their full potential.

We are going to achieve these aims by;

·         Establishing a community based on fairness, co-operation and mutual respect showing care and consideration and giving equal value to all children.  

 

·       Having high expectations of children at all times and promote children's self esteem through through positive encouragement and praise. 

 

·       Providing a broad and balanced curriculum accessable to all children, using multi sensory stratigies that enable children to learn in their prefered style, clear planning, differentiation and ongoing assessment.

  

·       Recognising and responding to children's individual needs and helping them to be fair, co-operative and respect themselves and the world around them

 

Feel Safe

·        Providing a consistent approach throughout school with clear rules and routines to enable children to feel secure.

 

Be Healthy  

·        Helping children develop an understanding of how to live a healthy lifestyle and how food, water, exercise and dealing with stress can improve their health.

 

Achieve Economic Well Being

·        Providing a clean and well cared for environment,which is exciting, stimulating, interesting and interactive and helps develop and extend children's thinking and arouse curiosity and discussion.

 

·        Help a lively, enquiring mind and to encourage curiosity, investigation and problem solving through first hand experiences.

 

·        Setting targets to raise standards and encouraging children to work to the best of their ability to achieve them.

 

Make a Positive contribution

·        Helping children to develop a positive self image and raising their self esteem so that they become confident and self assured and not afraid to try something new.

 

·        Helping children to become self sufficient and self reliant, able to make informed choices, solve problems and learn to be responsible for their actions.

 

·        Helping children to develop the personal and interpersonal skills needed to become responsible citizens.

 

·        Providing opportunity and encouragement for parents, governors and the community to be involved in the life of the school and develop a positive partnership between all.

 

 

                                      

 

The School Curriculum

The school curriculum is the totality of pupils’ learning experiences. It comprises of the National Curriculum and the wider curriculum. At Ferrybridge Infants School , we believe that the curriculum should be broad, balanced and relevant and meet the needs of all children.

 

The aims of the curriculum are to:  

·       Provide the best possible education for all children to enable them to achieve their full potential and to develop their intellectual, physical, spiritual and social skills. 

 

·        Promote high standards in reading, writing and maths.

 

·        Enable children to acquire knowledge and skills in science, to develop a lively, enquiring mind and to encourage investigation and problem solving through first hand experiences.

 

·        Enable children to be confident in the use of ICT

 

·        Nurture children’s spiritual awareness.

 

·        Promote physical and mental development and an awareness of the importance of a healthy lifestyle

 

·        Enable children to be aware of the importance of and participate in the Arts and culture

 

·        Enable pupils to develop moral sensibility through carefully taught values

 

·        Provide equality of access and the opportunity for all pupils to make progress

  

·        Prepare pupils for the opportunities, responsibilities and experiences of adult life

  

·        Provide a broad and balanced curriculum accessible to all children through clear planning, differentiation and ongoing assessment.

 

·        Deliver the curriculum through Visual, Auditory and Kinaesthetic activities, wherever possible.
